On March 24, the first meeting with the representatives of the business sector and representatives of EVPA and CSRDG was held in Tbilisi. The goal of the meeting was to share international experiences about social impact investing, to launch the first impact investors club in Georgia and meet with potential impact investors from Georgian companies.
Introducing a modern approach of strategic support to social entrepreneurship development – Impact investment through Impact Funds, development of social impact investing in Georgia and future prospects of cooperation with business companies having high CSR were main topics of discussion. Around 20 participants attended the meeting, including representatives from six companies.
Ewa Konczal, CEE Manager and Martijn Blom, Lead Benelux and Impact Funds Initiative European shared their experiences about impact investment as well as the experiences from the perspective of the impact investors.
Representative of the social enterprise EthnoDesign emphasised needs of SEs in Georgia and the importance of development of SE supporting mechanisms such as impact investment and impact funds.
Kristine Kandelaki, CSRDG country project manager presented the concept of the first impact Fund in Georgia, its working directions, plans and investment opportunities. Representatives of the businesses expressed their interest in the topic presented and readiness to discuss cooperation opportunities in the nearest future.
The visit also included the individual meetings with several leading companies, like Dentons and Finance in Motion local offices, for discussing future prospects of collaboration for impact.
The visit was organized within the project “Collaborate for Impact development of social entrepreneurship and social investments towards economic and social cohesion in the Eastern Partnership Countries” funded by the European Commission.
